Women and weapons nft. This blog post might be a little spooky, but I promise you it's worth your attention.

In moments of crisis in our society, gun violence can seem like the only option for self-defense. And while most people would agree that it's important to have access to firearms during these times, not everyone is comfortable carrying them around with them all the time on their person.

Read the story from a different viewpoint, and consider carrying a weapon on your person:

"I think the best compliment I can give is not to say how much your programs have taught me (a ton), but how much Marketplace has motivated me to go out and teach myself." – Michael in Arlington, VA As a nonprofit news organization, what matters to us is the same thing that matters to you: being a source of trustworthy news that remains independent. So if you read or follow our reports, you can trust that what you get is no one's commentary but ours. The reports we do have an editorial board, as done by many other outlets. But we have never needed them to tell us what to write about. And we have never needed an economic incentive to do so.

So it is with great pride that we give you the results of our first Marketplace 'Pollerkick Challenge.' This series, spotlighting America's fast-growing craft beer industry and created in collaboration with leading brewing trade group Brewers Association (BA), will examine the issues and challenges that confront today's independent brewers. We'll leverage our combined journalistic expertise to highlight the successes and struggles of small, independent brewers throughout the country. The Pollerkick Challenge will take a close look at how these innovative brewers are using technology, creativity, flexibility, tenacity and ingenuity to keep their businesses growing even in this time of historic growth for craft beer. So thank you for your support in making Marketplace the best it can be. This is cooperation and teamwork at its best, and a tangible example of the kind of journalism that can happen when we work together with our audience to improve the way business is done in America. So while you're enjoying this month's Pollerkick Challenge, please ask yourself this question:

When we started this challenge, we had no idea how much response it would receive. It was a challenge we set up to see if readers would respond positively to such a content type: single spaced articles that were easy to copy-and-paste and share with friends.

We thought it might get some attention. We hoped for a lot of responses.

We didn't know we'd end up with 2,000 of them.

Which is exactly what we have now, thanks to our growing audience and your willingness to go out there and spread the word about our brand new Pollerkick Challenge series on craft beer.

Today we're publishing the sixth article in this series, as well as an infographic highlighting the diverse range of pollerkicking responses that has been generated to date by this challenge that was designed to get people talking about craft beer. The top responses are being voted on now and will be announced later this month.

If you haven't read any of the previous Pollerkick Challenge articles, you can find them all at this link. It's a good way to pick up on the genre, and it's also a great introduction to this new series.

The challenge isn't over yet. Once we've announced the final eight independent brewers that have been voted on as winners in this poll, we'll be moving quickly on to adding more visual elements to create further opportunities for reader discussion when Letterkenny takes hold in early August. We want to give people as much opportunity as they need – and want – to engage with us and each other about craft beer and our coverage of the industry.

That's really the most important thing here. Making sure that you have a place to share your thoughts and ideas is just as important as creating them.

So if you enjoyed this post, be sure to 'like' and/or share it with others. You can also sign up for the Letterkenny newsletter here; we promise we'll only use your email address to send you updates on the show and other Letterkenny-related merchandise.

In addition to revealing the winners of our craft beer poll tonight, we're also going to launch something that should help bring more traffic your way.
